ACCESS has published its Good Practice Guide for student disability services.

The focus of this guide was to select, attune, modify and adapt good practices in the field of disability from EU context to ACCESS partner countries’ environment ACCESS (Costa Rica, Cuba and Dominican Republic). As a means to achieve the most impact, the document follows a very practical approach so that it can contribute directly to the daily activities, behaviours and processes of the academic and administrative staff as well as disability services’ users and other members of the HEI community.

The ACCESS Best Practice guide has been assumed as an essential commitment towards real inclusion, under a collaborative work model, not only with the rest of participating countries, but also with the work teams in each institution, involving all areas providing services to students, to create awareness of the social model for disabilities. Therefore, under this guide some Good Practices are proposed.

This guide aims to remove barriers, eliminate all forms of discrimination and promote universal accessibility; principles that most certainly are part of the equality of opportunities vision the ACCES Network partners are constantly pursuing.

ACCESS/“Promoting Accessibility of Students with Disability to Higher Education in Cuba, Costa Rica and Dominican Republic” is an Erasmus+ Key Action 2: Cooperation for innovation and the exchange of good practices: Capacity-building in higher education, co-funded by the European Commission. The overall objective of the ACCESS project is to improve accessibility, ensure learning conditions and foster policy change towards inclusion for students with disabilities within the context of the Higher Education system in Costa Rica, Cuba and Dominican Republic via modern inclusion practices, training and networking.
